Dental Consultation
What does a dental consultation involve?
A comprehensive dental exam will be performed by your dentist at your dental visit, which include the following:
- Oral cancer screening: Assessment of the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer.
- Gum disease evaluation where your dentist will examine the gums and bone around the teeth for any signs of periodontal disease.
- Examination for tooth decay, wherein all tooth surfaces will be checked for decay with special dental instruments.
- Examination of existing restorations: We check any fillings, crowns, or other restorative dental work you have had done in order to determine whether it is in good condition or requires replacement.
You may also need, diagnostic X-rays which are essential for detection of decay, tumours, cysts, and bone loss and may also help to assess tooth and root positions.
